I’ve had good bosses who made me feel like I could fly. 🕊️

I’ve had bad bosses who’ve made me feel like dirt. ☠️

ㅤ

I’ve had the in-between bosses, those that didn’t know what to do with my ‘potential’, but were nice to me.

ㅤ

💭 I would take mental notes – “when I’m the boss, I will…”

ㅤ

I obsessed about becoming a boss, a manager, a leader…

ㅤ

I criticized my current bosses for not having the edge that I would have…

ㅤ

At the tender age of 27, I became the boss. I managed 2 people, then 4, and eventually 10 over a span of 2 years.

And boy, did I suck at it!

ㅤ

I had to become more responsible. I had to care not just for myself, but for every single person in my breathing distance.

ㅤ

👿 “This sh*t’s hard!”

ㅤ

And on top of that, as a boss, I still had my bosses. Again, I had good ones, bad ones and in-between ones.

ㅤ

So I started plotting for the next level – how about becoming my own boss?

ㅤ

✅ Yeah, that would do it, right?

ㅤ

No limitations, this time I can really do whatever I want.

ㅤ

At 33, I finally became my own boss.

ㅤ

See, when you are your own boss, you are also your own employee.

ㅤ

Being my own boss equates to me having ME as MY boss. And I can be a lunatic to myself.

ㅤ

At least my good bosses would motivate me. I can be downright toxic to myself.

ㅤ

So these days, I’m managing up. I have my one-on-one’s with the mirror, asking my boss to go easy on me.

ㅤ

Me: “I’m doing the best I can!”

Boss Me: “It’s not enough! You’ll be left behind!”

Me: “But I am quite limited with my resources and time, boss…”

Boss Me: “Should’ve thought about that before you came to work for me! Make it happen, somehow!”

ㅤ

Quite a ride, as you can see. I’m scared I might fire myself someday.

ㅤ

If you’ve read this far, can you ask my boss to go easy on me?
